CBD Breakfast tea bags under review

Today we will be reviewing three different brands of CBD English breakfast tea looking at elements such as:-

  • Packaging
  • Price
  • Smell
  • Flavour
  • Value for money

The three products in question are:-

  • Equilibrium CBD Infused English Breakfast Tea
  • Edensgate CBD English Breakfast Tea
  • Hatter’s Hemp Tea English Breakfast Tea

Even though you might assume that all CBD Breakfast teas taste the same, this is not the case. In fact, as we found out everything may not be as you might expect!

Equilibrium CBD Infused English Breakfast Teabags

Equilibrium CBD Breakfast Tea

When it comes to packaging, it can be challenging to find a balance between protecting the quality of the CBD teabags while also being aware of environmental responsibilities. There is no suggestion that the plastic packaging is environmentally friendly so sceptics would suspect the worst.

That said, the packaging itself is eye-catching and there is plenty of information including the fact the tea is gluten free, vegan friendly and each teabag contains 3.4 mg of CBD.

Each pack of Equilibrium CBD Infused English Breakfast Teabags cost £9.50 for 12 teabags, equating to 79p per teabag.

When you consider you can buy traditional teabags in larger quantities, for much less, it does make you wonder why these packs are so small.

However, on the flipside, it is important to recognise that you are not replacing traditional teabags with CBD tea bags, which are a type of herbal remedy. It is also crucial that you follow the warnings regarding maximum advised intake of CBD per day.

When looking at the flavour of Equilibrium CBD Breakfast Tea the first thing that springs to mind is an aromatic mild vanilla flavour.

At times you will also experience a floral scent which may take a little getting used to. There’s no big CBD/hemp smell or flavour, even though it obviously does contain CBD. This is a nice “soft tea” which has no bitter aftertaste and is very enjoyable.

Value for money

As you’ll see from the following reviews, even though the Equilibrium CBD Breakfast Tea is the least expensive of the range, it has a lot to offer.

The other products in this review are at either ends of the spectrum, one is relatively bland while the other offers a distinct hemp smell and flavour. So, if you’re looking for tea infused CBD we would certainly recommend the Equilibrium CBD Infused English Breakfast Teabags. It also offers good value for money.

Edensgate CBD Breakfast Tea

Edensgate CBD Breakfast Tea

If we start with the packaging, it is safe to say that the Edensgate CBD English Breakfast Teabags is the least damaging to the environment. The simple cardboard tube effect makes the Edensgate CBD English Breakfast Teabags standout on the shelf.

It also enhances the perception of environmentally friendly packaging and recyclable material. You’ll see from the packaging that it is GMO free, with unbleached teabags and a warning notice about consulting your doctor if you are pregnant or taking medication. .

Each pack of Edensgate CBD English Breakfast Teabags contains 15 teabags, each containing 20mg of CBD at a cost of £16.99, or £1.13 per teabag.

While this is the most expensive of the teas we have reviewed today, you get what you pay for with regards to CBD.

While the 20mg of CBD per teabag may concern some people, it is important to note that research shows the body only ingests around 15% of the CBD we digest.

While some people may prefer to smell the hemp/CBD in their tea, others may take a different approach.

So, even though the Edensgate CBD Breakfast Tea contains 20mg of CBD per teabag, it still tastes like traditional breakfast tea. Sceptics might describe this as “bland” while others may prefer a CBD tea which tastes and smells like traditional tea. It really does come down to personal preference.

Value for money

While there was nothing wrong with Edensgate CBD English Breakfast Teabags, some buyers may be disappointed that it still tastes and smells like traditional breakfast tea. On the other hand, others may prefer this approach.

When debating the smell/taste it is easy to forget the teabags still provide the medical benefits of CBD. This is by no means a criticism of the teabags but if you are paying a premium price you may be expecting a different smell/taste.

Hatter’s Hemp Tea English Breakfast Tea

Hatters CBD Breakfast Tea

The packaging of the Hatter’s Hemp Tea English Breakfast Tea is a little confusing; on one hand they have used paper on the outside but a plastic inner bag.

Again, while we appreciate the need to maintain the integrity of the teabags, there is a feeling that more could be done to enhance environmentally friendly and recycling credentials. Some people may think we have been a little over critical, but many CBD teas have reference to free trade and other “positive aspects” of their business.

While the packaging makes no direct mention of CBD in isolation, it does refer to CBD enriched hemp. So, while the other teabags are infused with CBD, it is a different make up for the Hatter’s Hemp Tea English Breakfast Teabags.

Even though there are no medical warnings on the packaging, we can assume these are on the website. Suitable for vegans, Hatter’s Hemp Tea English Breakfast Teabags are made up of phytocannabinoid rich hemp (50%), Kenyan black tea (25%) and Assam tea (25%).

The price of Hatter’s Hemp Tea English Breakfast Teabags is £19.99 for 20 teabags, costing £1 per teabag. Again, while this does not compare favourably to the cost of traditional tea, is important not to confuse traditional tea with hemp/CBD infused tea.

As we expected, the flavour and look of the Hatter’s Hemp Tea English Breakfast Teabags is different to the other two. It is made up of a green leaf, which is courser to touch, and has a distinct hemp smell.

We thought the taste was very enjoyable, offering a smooth tea with a flavour of hemp – but not overpowering.

It may take a little while to get used to the distinct flavour of the Hatter’s Hemp Tea English Breakfast Teabags but it is certainly worth persevering with.

Value for money

There is no doubt, with the Hatter’s Hemp Tea English Breakfast Teabags you get what you pay for, an aroma of hemp which is not overpowering. For many people, this is what CBD tea is all about; a flavour of hemp so that you know it is not a traditional English breakfast tea. It is a little different, it won’t suit everybody, but the mixture of flavour, smell and price certainly makes it very attractive.

Conclusion

It is fair to say that the three CBD Breakfast Teas reviewed each have their own characteristic, taste and aroma and will likely appeal to different sectors of the market.

When it comes to ranking each of these CBD teas, we have focused more on price, smell and flavour as opposed to the packaging, which we have covered in detail. The results (drum roll!):-

First place: Equilibrium CBD Infused English Breakfast Tea

Second place: Hatter’s Hemp Tea English Breakfast Tea

Third place: Edensgate CBD English Breakfast Tea

If based purely on flavour, we would probably have come out in favour of Hatter’s Hemp Tea English Breakfast Teabags over Equilibrium CBD Infused English Breakfast Teabags. However, we feel it is important to take into account the price as well as the smell and flavour, and the overall offering. This was certainly an enjoyable review!
